One-to-One Services

Book a 60 minute punch-up session

What’s a punch-up session?

A 60 minute, one-to-one Zoom session for collaborative, line-by-line speech editing and delivery coaching with me.

In American TV writing, there’s something called a “writers room,” where one person writes the draft, and then a group of comedy writers meet to punch it up, which means making it funnier and more engaging by brainstorming new ideas, going deeper into the truth of the situation, and seeing what gets the best reaction in the room.

Think of it as a group editing session with a lot of laughs.

During your punch-up session, you and I will be a 2-person writers room for your project.

  • Customize jokes for a specific audience (ongoing or as a one-off)

  • Lighten up a sad or dark subject

  • Make yourself and your presentation funnier and more engaging

    Please note:

I do not do any writing outside the call, but I encourage you to send me your content (draft or video of you delivering your presentation at an event,) before we speak, so we can hit the ground running!

My comedy qualifications

I’ve spent the past 27 years working as a TV comedy writer on shows including Letterman, The Tonight Show With Jay Leno, Ellen, and the Oscars, winning a bunch of awards along the way.

For fifteen of those years I was also a working comedian, performing at clubs, colleges and military bases across the US.

“I still want people to take me seriously.”

They will.

The goal isn’t turning you into a stand-up comedian. Real humor doesn’t mean corny jokes. It means well-observed truth, gentle vulnerability, and simple self-awareness used in a way that creates genuine connection — and just happens to get laughs and smiles.

Humor is seasoning. Think of it as salt. Not every dish needs a lot, but every dish need some. Popcorn needs a lot of salt. Chocolate only needs a few grains. If you have ever made a friend or loved one laugh or smile, you have everything we need.

How much does it cost?

We’ll get a lot done during our session, you’ll need time to test-drive your new material and comedy awareness, and I hate record-keeping, so I find it’s better to book sessions one at a time as needed.

A one hour session is £400.00.

If you have a lot of speaking events coming up and want several sessions in a short period of time (1-2 months,) I offer a three session package for £1000. Please contact me directly to book a package.

Four (4) reasons you should be using humor in your presentations

  1. Speakers who use humor are more effective, more memorable, and booked more often.

  2. Laughter INSTANTLY creates an emotional connection, building trust and inspiring action.

  3. Humor releases tension and adds balance to talks that involve difficult or emotional subjects.

  4. YOU will enjoy delivering your talks more. There’s nothing better than the sound of laughter. Plus, it’s instant feedback. If your audience is laughing and smiling, you don’t have to wonder whether or not they’re engaged. You know in the moment that they’re right there with you.
